MISSION COMPOSTABLE PROJECT
In 2016 the Compost Site in Kinlochleven which was used by village residents to recycle their garden waste, had fallen into disrepair and the existing volunteers were not able to continue to maintain it.
Following a successful call for volunteers and several funding applications, the Trust put ‘Mission Compostable’ into action.
Since that time, six volunteers have received training in Chainsaw Use and Health and Safety, thanks to funding from TESCO Bags of Help and Lochaber Housing Association. Once the volunteers were trained and ready to go, the funding from the People’s Postcode Trust paid for new equipment, and a much needed shed, providing somewhere for the volunteers to store the equipment and shelter from the elements.
None of this would have been possible without the commitment of the volunteers, mentored by Hamish Small, the kind donation of the site for the shed, by Madge Milligan, and the funders who believed in the ‘Mission Compostable’ project.
THE SITE IS NOW OPEN FOR DOMESTIC GARDEN WASTE
