Electric Vehicle Charge Point Open Day Saturday 2nd November 2019
In 2018, the Trust had a visit from a company called eVolt that installs electric vehicle charge points and they mentioned that it was ironic that the ‘Electric Village’ didn’t have any installed and how this could potentially create good publicity for the village.
With the rise in sales of electric vehicles and the lack of electric vehicle charge points in the local area, the Trust decided to seek funding and planning permission to get the charge points installed. Two charge points were installed in March 2019 in a good central location within the village for any passers by that need their vehicle charging.
An open day was organised for Saturday the 2nd November 2019 to celebrate the installation of the charge points. With assistance from Home Energy Scotland, Off Beat Bikes and Lochaber Environmental Group, there was a Hyundai Kona electric car to test drive and there were 2 e-bikes to take for a test ride too.
Home Energy Scotland advisors were also on hand to chat through any home energy questions anyone had. There was also the opportunity to enter a competition to win an e-bike.
Thankfully, the rain stayed off and there was a fantastic turn out on the day. Due to the success of the event, the Trust have decided to organise another similar event in Spring 2020.
