Housing in Kinlochleven is made up of both privately owned and local authority housing. Over £320,000 was invested in 1996 by the KLDT to improve the main village amenities including a picnic site with parking and footpaths.

There is both a primary and secondary school. Kinlochleven High School presently has a role of 114 and there are 69 children in the primary school. There is also a nursery with 5 children.

Whilst walking in and around Kinlochleven you might get the opportunity to see some red squirrels, deer on the hillside, birds of prey and many unusual plants.

The air through the forest walks has often been described as having a strong fresh citrus aroma.
