Kinlochleven
In the Spring of 2008, Kinlochleven Community Trust entered discussions with Highland Council to take control of the former Library and Aluminium Story Building in the centre of the village. Our aim is to open a Tourist Information Centre along with retaining the Aluminium Story. The Library had supplied information in the past, but opening hours were not always convenient, and there was a suggestion that the Aluminium Story may close permanently. Following Community Consultation, discussions have also taken place to re-locate the existing Post Office from a building no longer fit for purpose, no disabled/pram access, into more modern premises. In November 2008, The Scottish Ministers consented to the whole building being transferred to Kinlochleven Community Trust.
Following public consultation in early 2010, Post office Ltd confirmed that the Kinlochleven Post Office will relocate from the existing premises in Leven Road to the Aluminium Story building within the centre of the village.
On Wednesday 18th August 2010, the Post Office moved to the Aluminium Story Building, Linnhe Road, Kinlochleven, PH50 5SJ. The Aluminium Story and Visitor Information Point is also located within the building and the new open plan counters will make it easier for customers to use the full range of services and being in a more modern building makes access easier. There is ample off-road parking available in the car park immediately behind the Aluminium Story.
The new ATM is located beside the front porch and is available 24 hours.
