Welcome to the
Hidden away at the head of Loch Leven the Highland village of Kinlochleven is in a unique location. Set amongst a stunning combination of mountain, loch, river, moor and woodland makes Kinlochleven a special place.
With its rich natural resources the village rapidly expanded in the early 1900’s based around the North British Aluminium Company who built a hydro scheme and smelter in the area. With the smelter gone the village continues to be proud of its strong industrial heritage and has transformed itself into a top destination for outdoor enthusiasts. The village celebrated its centenary year in 2008 and the community is looking forward to a bright century ahead.
Whether you are planning a visit, thinking of moving to the Highlands, interested in relocating your business, Kinlochleven has plenty to offer. So take time to browse around our village website and find out what makes Kinlochleven such a special place.
The Community Trust was set up following the closure of the aluminium smelter, primarily to regenerate the village as an outdoor tourism and small business centre. The emphasis has changed since then with the Trust also focusing on longer term environmental projects within the village and surrounding area.
